The Rantings - For Everyone

Looking Forward to 2018

Over the last couple of posts, I’ve been looking to the past as most of us do, as one year comes to an ending and another begins. First, I looked at some of my stats for my 2017 in Review and then I took a walk down memory lane and looked back over some of the more memorable moments of the year in Looking Back on 2017.

But now, there’s no more looking back to be done. There’s only time for looking ahead!

I’ve got some pretty big goals coming up this year. I had hoped to get a lot more done in 2017 than I did, especially in terms of blogging-related goals, but it ended up being a much busier year in real life. This year is also going to be pretty busy, but I’m getting sick of all these things sitting on the back burner.

So, here’s some of the things I have planned to do in 2018.

  • Start publishing WTMFI Wednesdays on Wednesdays

I currently publish each session of WTMFI Wednesdays whenever I get around to it. At the time of publishing this post, I’m 3 sessions behind! I’d love to start publishing these on Wednesdays! Gotta catch up first…

  • Start doing other memes or bring back past memes

I love memes, like a lot. They are a great way to get constant inspiration and to consistently post on your blog. I have done a few of these in the past and would like to start adding more to my repertoire. Some of them, I’d like to participate in regularly and some just every once and awhile.

    • #MasturbationMonday

Hosted by Kayla Lords, Masturbation Monday challenges you to “write a steamy hot post about masturbation or so hot, it’ll make people want to masturbate.” I’ve never done this one, but would love to!

    • #TMITuesday

In the vein of WTMFI Wednesdays (and probably about as old), TMI Tuesday “is a confessional of sorts where people come to reveal too much information–sexy secrets, dirty deeds, and more.” I’ve never done this one, but have always wanted to!

    • #WickedWednesday

Wicked Wednesday is a “place where you can share your wicked sexiness or your sexy wickedness! Be creative and share!” I’ve never done this one, but think it could be fun to do every once and awhile.

    • #ThrowbackThursday

I previously did these recap posts of my #ThrowbackThursday’s on Facebook. I still haven’t found an easy way to be able to just see these posts, so I was collecting them up myself! I want to start doing this again!

    • #FridayFavorites

I’m a lot of places all over the web. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with what I’m doing everywhere. So, #FridayFavorites served as a place to show you all of the stuff – from my favorite Tumblr post of the week to my favorite Tweet. I really enjoyed doing these, so I’m bringing it back!

    • #SaturdaySerenade

#SaturdaySerenade used to be a poetry hashtag used by The Erotic Writers Group. I’m stealing it and also transforming it into a song hashtag. I plan to use it every Saturday to share musical-type things with you. You can expect to see song lyrics written by me or song lyrics that I just absolutely love and YouTube cover videos.

    • #TumblrFavorites

Back in the day, every 3 months, you could expect to see a #TumblrFavorites post. I’d do a rundown of all the best posts to my Tumblr over that time period. I seriously miss doing these and I miss Tumblr, so I’m bringing it back!

  • Publish my first book of erotic limericks

I’ve been working on this project for about half a year now. I decided awhile ago that it was on the list to publish my first book and also decided that that first book would be a collection of erotic limericks written by me. They’re my favorite type of poem, I love writing them and that’s why it’s going to be my first book!

  • Finish The Mermaid

I was challenged by a member of The Erotic Writers Group last year to write a story about a mermaid. And I’ve been working mighty hard on this story on and off since I was challenged. I’m determined to have this finished this year!!!

  • Complete the first draft of The Brighton Tales

The Brighton Tales has been a story in my head for almost a decade. I have every intention of getting this at least somewhat more complete this year. I want to get it to the point where I have the whole thing down on paper and out of my head!

  • Re-launch The Erotic Writers Group (I say this every year)

Every year I say it and every year I mean it!

As the creator and founder of The Erotic Writers Group, it’s my responsibility to maintain and expand this community for readers and writers of erotica. Some years, I’m absolutely amazing and the group thrives and does great. Other years, I’m a total slacker and basically just let the group do it’s thing.

For years, I’ve been wanting to really dedicate a lot of my effort into this group. Get the website that I’ve been talking about going, post regularly and make products and publish books and the list really goes on and on and on.

This year, I want to buckle down hard!!! Prioritize this like crazy and finally, finally bring my vision to life!!!

  • Start posting videos on Pornhub again…

It’s been quite awhile since The Boyfriend and I posted videos on Pornhub. It wasn’t a planned experience, so we didn’t plan to keep posting. But we’ve both expressed an interest in doing more. We’ve got tons of ideas and now it’s just a matter of following through.

  • Take a lot more pictures of everything!!!

I keep getting Facebook memories that make me think, “I should’ve gotten a picture of that!“. There’s so many memories that we’re missing out on. Plus, there’s a new baby about to be a part of our family. Always good to take lots of pictures during that time, since it goes so fast! I also want to become a better photographer and practice makes perfect.

  • Make more products for my Zazzle store

I bet you didn’t even know I have a Zazzle store... I do and I even have some products. When I do work on this, I work pretty hard. However, I’m likely to forget it even exists for a long time. More designs, more products, more promotion!!!

  • Start playing a Sims 4 Legacy Challenge

Way back in March, I had asked which legacy challenge I should do as my first Sims 4 challenge after my hiatus. However, I never got around to starting any challenges. I recently ran a poll on my Facebook page asking if I should even bother with the Sims 4 on ValerieRayne.com.

Either way, I want to play a Sims 4 Legacy Challenge – even if I don’t blog about it!

  • Write something erotic once a week

Currently, I publish erotica all willy-nilly. I want to do it a lot more!!! I think if I could dedicate myself to writing one erotic thing once a week, I’d be very happy.

  • Write a poem or song once a week

I used to write poems/songs daily. Now, I’m lucky if it happens once or twice a year. Honestly, this year I’d just like to be more creative in general. And I really want to expand my original songs repertoire, because right now, it’s super tiny!

  • Record a new cover or original to YouTube once a month

It’s always been a goal of mine to become more active on my YouTube channel. I’d love to be able to add a new video at least once a month. Eventually, I’d love to do a daily vlog too, but really I just need to get comfortable with a little bit more consistency on there!

  • Check into my Tumblr at least once a week

I was doing a great job of this for quite a long time. And then, I went through a period of rarely ever being aroused and Tumblr really went to the way back burner. I haven’t even looked at it in a few weeks now… It’s time to get back to the good ole days and check into my Tumblr more often!!!

  • Participate in the Goodreads reading challenge

I have been participating in this for a few years now. Usually, I set the bar way too high and never come even close to the mark. Last year, I set the bar incredibly low with only 1 book to read and of course, did it. This year, I want to actually challenge myself but also make it a reachable goal, so I’ve chosen to try to read 13 books (one for each month and one for good luck 😉)

  • Buy and review an erotic eBook once a month

Currently, I don’t read any erotica. I never seem to be able to find the time or the space to just sit down and do it. But I really want to support some of the people who have supported me over the years – especially members of The Erotic Writers Group. I also want to try my hand at writing reviews 😉

  • Figure out a way to offer audio of all of my blog posts

I don’t know why, but I’ve been obsessed with this idea for about half a year now. First of all, I think sometimes my writing comes off as confusing because you can’t get my tone or inflection through commas and exclamation points! Also, I know there is an audience, especially for posts like my erotica or sexperiences.

I haven’t figured out how I want to do this or what exactly I want it to be like (so if you have any suggestions…), I just know that I’ve been obsessed with the idea and so I have to figure out how to do it!

Ultimately, we can sum up all my goals for the year into three words: More, Consistency and Creativity.  I want to be more consistent and I want to be more creative. I want to finish something, not just start it. Now, it’s just a matter of getting it done!!!

The Rantings - For Everyone

We Got “Our Baby” Back

It’s been a few weeks since our van was stolen. After a week, they found her but she needed to get a few repairs. They also completely cleaned her for us. And today, we officially took back possession of our van. I have felt amazing all day!

I had no problem falling out of love with the truck after pressing down on the brake pedal of “our baby” again. I immediately remembered all the reasons I loved her and how much I had missed her and “screw that truck!”. Thank goodness too, because I thought I’d always be wishing for that beautiful driving experience, but nope!

Then, went down to Heritage Ranch and looked at the horses and let Cazzwell crawl around in the grass. It was such a beautiful day – just the right kind of hot as long as there was shade about, clear blue skies that went on forever and this most splendidly gentle breeze. It was hard to go back inside, but glad that I did because the house was so cool!!!

The Boyfriend had mentioned that he had heard rumors that The Sims 4 was coming to console. Upon returning from our visit with the horses, I got word straight from the horses mouth that yes, The Sims 4 is coming to console. And had a little mini game-gasm. YAY!!!

Now the plan for the rest of the night is to clean my living room, write a few blog posts (since I’ve got a few things on my mind), and then I think I’m going to work on The Mermaid. And then, I’m going to veg and try to finish Switched at Birth before going to bed. Sounds like a great way to cap off a great day!

#TheSims4: Which Legacy Challenge Should I Do First?

Challenges are not an inherit part of The Sims franchise, however, throughout its history, players have been creating and sharing their different ways of playing the game and gamers like me have been adding them to our repertoires for years. Challenges almost always change the way you experience the game and can add a level of competition that usually isn’t a part of The Sims.

There are a wide variety of challenges to complete in The Sims 4. More often than not, these challenges are created by players of the game and change/evolve as the game does. There are also new challenges being added constantly and many of the challenges have been adapted from previous versions of The Sims to allow for play in The Sims 4.

One thing that I love about challenges is their ability to entirely change the way that you play the game. In the past, I have played a legacy challenge and I was most impressed with the fact that it kept me coming back to the same family longer than I had ever played a sims family before. It literally challenges you to step outside of your gaming comfort levels and allows you to experience the game differently than you usually would.

I’ve listed all of the Legacy Challenges that I’m most interested in and a short synopsis of what the challenge entails (either as written by the challenge creator or the best I can gather from rules and exceptions). I also have a lot of other types of challenges that I’d like to do, but today I’m focusing on Legacy Challenges.

So, which one should I start with? Vote in the poll below to let me know which one you’d like to see me do first!

The Original Legacy Challenge

“The Legacy Challenge tasks you with creating a single founder Sim moving them in to a giant lot, and starting out in abject poverty. Your founder must build their house, build their wealth, and ultimately bring in the second generation to continue when they die. In this challenge you play a single family for 10 full generations. With less control over how your children turn out and more challenges thrown your way, the challenge asks the very important question. “What kind of Legacy will you leave?”

Decades Challenge

You begin the challenge in the 1890’s, when people pooped outside and women had no rights! Traveling through the decades, you unlock different abilities and privileges. For example, when you start, you can only bathe. In the 1950’s, you can finally add showers! There are currently rules for the 1890’s – 2010’s.

The Build Newcrest Challenge

“It will be your Legacy’s responsibility and gift to the community to build all the neighborhoods and community lots for the future of Newcrest. Each generation will have a specific building goal and cannot build until they have completed their job and aspiration that lays the foundation for their building goals.”

The Disney Princess 10 Gen Challenge

Play through each generation as a different Disney princess. You begin as Snow White with 7 children and work through princesses including Cinderella, Aurora, Rapunzel, Belle, Mulan and Jasmine. Each generation comes with specific tasks and restrictions on traits, aspirations, spouses and family.

The Cult or Commune Challenge

“Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a part of a commune, just living off the land? Or to lead a cult composed of people with ideas that just don’t fit in with mainstream society? Have you ever thought about joining a group of people together just to see what you could come up with as a team? Then the Cult or Commune Challenge may be for you! You will recruit a group of people, develop your own customs, decide how to work together, develop your own code of dress, start up a collection of treasures, learn lots of skills, discover love, and have children to spread your ideas! Create your leader, gather your people, and you decide–cult or commune?”

The History Challenge

“The Sims 4 History Challenge is a Legacy-style challenge that takes your Sims on a journey through the history of the world. It spans 7 major time periods, referred to as Eras, from prehistoric to modern, across multiple generations of Sims. The selection of aspirations, careers, and objects you may use will be quite limited at first, but as you progress through the Eras you will unlock more and more options. You will be challenged to not only succeed in the long run, through a set of challenge-wide goals, but also on a per-Era level, as each Era has individual goals that can only be completed while that Era is active.”

I’m a Lover Challenge

Play through 10 generations of different love styles. From marriage to your high school sweetheart to a life of bachelorhood, each generation has different love requirements. Ultimately, you end up building a graveyard to memorializing your family of lovers.

Parentcy Challenge

Like the previous challenge, you play through 10 generations – but instead of love styles you play parenting styles. From the hardworking single mom to the neglectful and insane parent to finally, the not a parent! This challenge has a point system that looks pretty intense.

The Poll

The Rantings - For Everyone

The Last Week or So…

It’s been a very long and entirely unproductive week…

We had two Christmas dinners to go to this year, which were incredibly delicious. First night was a turkey night and the second night was a bacon-wrapped steak night. Both nights were amazing and hanging out with all the family was really great.

The big highlight of our week was The Boyfriend’s four days off. It went by way too fast and four days really felt like two, but I always love having him in bed with me. Although, for some reason, this whole week, every time I sleep I end up getting ridiculously hot and so our usual comfortable and cuddly sleep was more like tossing and turning and keeping each other awake.

Carter’s been so talkative since the older kids left. I’m finding the super constant talkativeness to be incredibly annoying this time around and have to keep reminding myself that he’s not trying to annoy me. He’s just sharing… Every single thing! I don’t think I’ve ever heard him talk as much as he has been lately and I probably wouldn’t find it so annoying if he talked about more than just two or three things. I can’t wait for the older kids to get back so that he has other ears to talk off.

I had all these big plans to get tons of cleaning done while the kids were gone and for the most part, I’ve failed miserably. We did have two solid days of really great cleaning and it was productive, but it wasn’t the degree of cleaning I was hoping to get done. We also got another new mop, this time with steam, to see if that will do our floors better or easier or something. We still have some time before the kids get back, so I imagine it’ll all get done, at some point.

I’ve been playing a lot of video games lately. The Boyfriend was all “try out Fallout 4” and I did and ended up falling in love with it. His second day off must’ve been especially boring, because I stole the game from him when he went to get coffees and didn’t let him back on all day! Then, I’ve been checking in on The Sims 4 stuff almost every other day, although I haven’t been playing The Rayne’s at all. Just random characters or attempting to build.

I’ve been having some knee pain lately, which hasn’t happened very often in the last few weeks. It’s been pretty insistent the last two weeks and I’ve spent a bunch of time complaining. Then, on and off (although more on over the last couple of days), I’ve been having a pain in my breast. I can’t really describe the pain in either of those places, except by saying that it sucks! Thank goodness I have the world’s greatest boyfriend, who will spend hours rubbing my knees and breasts, never once complaining about all my complaining 😉

Well, that’s basically all that’s happening around here. A whole lot of nothing. We’re planning on picking the kids up in about a week, which I’m excited about and then it’ll be back into the swing of school and all that other fun stuff.

The Rayne's

#TheSims4: Introducing The Rayne’s

The Rayne’s are teen roommates currently residing in Mid-Nowhere: The Rayne’s in Windenburg.

Valerie Rayne is a creative music lover whose greatest ambition is to become a Musical Genius. Boyfriend Rayne, who shares the same last name as Valerie but isn’t related to her, is a genius and a geek whose life dream is to be a Nerd Brain.

They’ve already spent some time getting to know one another and becoming best friends. They’ve also hosted the Welcome Wagon and gone to Island Bluffs and the Discotheque, where they did their first ever group dance. Valerie is wearing the red bathing suit and Boyfriend is right in the center.

After their rather eventful week, full of school, homework and entertaining, they decided they needed to wind down and Valerie went to her room and Boyfriend went to his room and they both enjoyed a meditation session that let them level up twice.

Next up for The Rayne’s: While they’re still in school, both Boyfriend and Valerie intend to get jobs as Retail Store Employees. After they’ve held a job for awhile and are doing well in school, the plan is to start exploring clubs. I think we’ll probably have one of them create a club that they both join and then have them each join separate already existing clubs (such as the Paragons or Renegades). The final goal, before they become adults anyways, is to have them begin dating!

Be sure to stay tuned to see what ends up happening to The Rayne’s and the world around them!

And if you’d like to try playing as them, you can find The Rayne’s on The Sims 4 Gallery by searching the Origin ID: ValerieRayne13. I’d love to see someone play them and share their experience with me in the comments below!

The Picture Place is a small photo studio. Surrounding one end of the building is an intricate fountain consisting of domes and streams. The other end of the studio is surrounded by a porch with lots of seating for customers.

Inside, on the main level, is a tiny reception area where your Sims are able to purchase a wide assortment of cameras. The rug consists of 13 different pieces to give it quite a fun shape and guests can enjoy the fireplace while they listen to some sweet tunes.

Of course, it isn’t a photo studio with some equipment. Separated from the reception area by some awesome room dividers, your Sims can get their pictures taken (or take some of their own) in this area overlooking the fountains outside.

From the porch outside, Sims can access the two bathrooms downstairs. They come with a shower, seating, toilet and sink and a locker for changing outfits. Again, throughout the whole design of this space, you’ll see my obsession with symmetry shining through, so both bathrooms are designed the same.

#TheSims4: Excited for Clubs

It’s been a super long while since I’ve played The Sims 4, but this expansion has me itching for release and then playtime. Clubs is something that has me incredibly excited. I’ve wanted this experience for a long time in a game that I like and now it’s happening to the one I love the most!

I’m looking forward to see all of the Simmers club creations and I’m sure I’ll experiment with joining a handful of clubs, but mostly, I’m looking forward to creating a Club all my own! And boy, do I ever have ideas!! Especially after reading through TheSims.com’s post about 11 options available to me – including creating my club’s outfit – I almost jumped out of my seat!

So, who’s planning on creating a club of their own? What are your club plans? How are you preparing for this release? What’s your thoughts on clubs and this upcoming expansion for #TheSims4?
