The Rantings - For Everyone

We Got “Our Baby” Back

It’s been a few weeks since our van was stolen. After a week, they found her but she needed to get a few repairs. They also completely cleaned her for us. And today, we officially took back possession of our van. I have felt amazing all day!

I had no problem falling out of love with the truck after pressing down on the brake pedal of “our baby” again. I immediately remembered all the reasons I loved her and how much I had missed her and “screw that truck!”. Thank goodness too, because I thought I’d always be wishing for that beautiful driving experience, but nope!

Then, went down to Heritage Ranch and looked at the horses and let Cazzwell crawl around in the grass. It was such a beautiful day – just the right kind of hot as long as there was shade about, clear blue skies that went on forever and this most splendidly gentle breeze. It was hard to go back inside, but glad that I did because the house was so cool!!!

The Boyfriend had mentioned that he had heard rumors that The Sims 4 was coming to console. Upon returning from our visit with the horses, I got word straight from the horses mouth that yes, The Sims 4 is coming to console. And had a little mini game-gasm. YAY!!!

Now the plan for the rest of the night is to clean my living room, write a few blog posts (since I’ve got a few things on my mind), and then I think I’m going to work on The Mermaid. And then, I’m going to veg and try to finish Switched at Birth before going to bed. Sounds like a great way to cap off a great day!

#TheSims4: Which Legacy Challenge Should I Do First?

Challenges are not an inherit part of The Sims franchise, however, throughout its history, players have been creating and sharing their different ways of playing the game and gamers like me have been adding them to our repertoires for years. Challenges almost always change the way you experience the game and can add a level of competition that usually isn’t a part of The Sims.

There are a wide variety of challenges to complete in The Sims 4. More often than not, these challenges are created by players of the game and change/evolve as the game does. There are also new challenges being added constantly and many of the challenges have been adapted from previous versions of The Sims to allow for play in The Sims 4.

One thing that I love about challenges is their ability to entirely change the way that you play the game. In the past, I have played a legacy challenge and I was most impressed with the fact that it kept me coming back to the same family longer than I had ever played a sims family before. It literally challenges you to step outside of your gaming comfort levels and allows you to experience the game differently than you usually would.

I’ve listed all of the Legacy Challenges that I’m most interested in and a short synopsis of what the challenge entails (either as written by the challenge creator or the best I can gather from rules and exceptions). I also have a lot of other types of challenges that I’d like to do, but today I’m focusing on Legacy Challenges.

So, which one should I start with? Vote in the poll below to let me know which one you’d like to see me do first!

The Original Legacy Challenge

“The Legacy Challenge tasks you with creating a single founder Sim moving them in to a giant lot, and starting out in abject poverty. Your founder must build their house, build their wealth, and ultimately bring in the second generation to continue when they die. In this challenge you play a single family for 10 full generations. With less control over how your children turn out and more challenges thrown your way, the challenge asks the very important question. “What kind of Legacy will you leave?”

Decades Challenge

You begin the challenge in the 1890’s, when people pooped outside and women had no rights! Traveling through the decades, you unlock different abilities and privileges. For example, when you start, you can only bathe. In the 1950’s, you can finally add showers! There are currently rules for the 1890’s – 2010’s.

The Build Newcrest Challenge

“It will be your Legacy’s responsibility and gift to the community to build all the neighborhoods and community lots for the future of Newcrest. Each generation will have a specific building goal and cannot build until they have completed their job and aspiration that lays the foundation for their building goals.”

The Disney Princess 10 Gen Challenge

Play through each generation as a different Disney princess. You begin as Snow White with 7 children and work through princesses including Cinderella, Aurora, Rapunzel, Belle, Mulan and Jasmine. Each generation comes with specific tasks and restrictions on traits, aspirations, spouses and family.

The Cult or Commune Challenge

“Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a part of a commune, just living off the land? Or to lead a cult composed of people with ideas that just don’t fit in with mainstream society? Have you ever thought about joining a group of people together just to see what you could come up with as a team? Then the Cult or Commune Challenge may be for you! You will recruit a group of people, develop your own customs, decide how to work together, develop your own code of dress, start up a collection of treasures, learn lots of skills, discover love, and have children to spread your ideas! Create your leader, gather your people, and you decide–cult or commune?”

The History Challenge

“The Sims 4 History Challenge is a Legacy-style challenge that takes your Sims on a journey through the history of the world. It spans 7 major time periods, referred to as Eras, from prehistoric to modern, across multiple generations of Sims. The selection of aspirations, careers, and objects you may use will be quite limited at first, but as you progress through the Eras you will unlock more and more options. You will be challenged to not only succeed in the long run, through a set of challenge-wide goals, but also on a per-Era level, as each Era has individual goals that can only be completed while that Era is active.”

I’m a Lover Challenge

Play through 10 generations of different love styles. From marriage to your high school sweetheart to a life of bachelorhood, each generation has different love requirements. Ultimately, you end up building a graveyard to memorializing your family of lovers.

Parentcy Challenge

Like the previous challenge, you play through 10 generations – but instead of love styles you play parenting styles. From the hardworking single mom to the neglectful and insane parent to finally, the not a parent! This challenge has a point system that looks pretty intense.

The Rantings - For Everyone

The Last Couple Days

It’s been a good couple of days around here, even if it has felt overwhelming at times and even though I’ve been struggling with worry. The kids have all been a handful and a half, especially the boys who are not only getting on each other’s nerves but everyone else’s as well. Then, more visits to the doctor than I would like are keeping me awake at night, plus my body feels all tight and cranky, so I’m exhausted!

We went to our second prenatal appointment the other day. We were hoping to get some answers, like if I would be put on medication for high blood pressure, but instead the appointment just swung open the door to even more questions.

First, we brought all the kids in to hopefully listen to the baby’s heartbeat and the doctor tried and tried past the point of every one of the kids becoming bored and we just couldn’t get it. The Boyfriend felt uneasy about that, but that’s probably because we never had a problem getting Carter’s heartbeat – so it’s new to him. Then we discussed my blood tests, which showed that my red blood cells are large. So now we’re going for further blood tests to see if it’s a Vitamin B12 deficiency or liver disease or just pregnancy-related. And then we ended up ordering a 24-hour blood pressure monitor to get a definitive answer on that, and I pick that up in a day or two.

After about six years of not seeing a doctor to seeing one every other week… It doesn’t sit well with me! It makes me nervous and I just want it to be over and done with.

I’ve spent a lot of time over the last couple of days trying to catch up on some the online things that I’ve neglected for a long time. Tumblr kind of distracted me and I spent the majority of my time deleting, tagging and organizing my Tumblr. It’s looking pretty good and I can’t wait to hop on over there later tonight and get adding more. I’ve got a Top 5 Tumblrs to do AND the winter #TumblrFavorites is almost ready to go!

I’ve also been playing a ridiculous amount of The Sims 4. The Boyfriend tried for days on end to get me to play and I just couldn’t find the interest, even after I downloaded another Stuff Pack. Finally, after the kids bogarted it for a few days, I decided to go on. Created a new family, because I can’t seem to stick with one anymore. However, something happened and I ended up losing that because it didn’t save. So today, I spent a huge portion of the day on it.

I’ve been meaning to take screenshots or videos or something of my gameplay, but the last couple of days I’ve just really wanted to focus on playing. I feel like there’s still so much of that game that I haven’t even come close to experiencing yet. So, I’ve been taking my time to really explore and have been focusing a lot on Clubs lately. I even made my own Club for the first time today and managed to have about four gatherings, which allowed me to get quite a few Club Perks. I’m finding Clubs to be a very interesting addition to the overall gameplay.

And I’ve even gotten quite a bit of cleaning done over the last two or three days. I’ve been making The Boyfriend deal with laundry and interrupt his gaming the moment I realize the machine is done. The kids, even though they’re not listening and fighting, are being helpful when I ask them to. Today, they did an amazing job getting the living room clean as long as I could keep Carter distracted.

He has just been in a bug everyone type of mood. He wants to be best buds with Kenzie and Keirnan, but neither of them really have an interest in him or any of his interests right now. They’ve all been super-competitive lately, each trying to out-do the other. One boy will say that he was good at something and the other boys will insist that they’re better or that his good thing was simply a fluke. Carter, because he’s hating being the youngest right now, seems to be the worst and always has to have the last word.

Kenzie has been ridiculously loud lately and I can guarantee he’s not even noticing it. Today, we were all sitting in the living room and the boys were playing relatively quietly. Kenzie starts to get louder and louder and louder, when the parents turn and ask him to quiet down. This happens probably three or four times before he gets in trouble for being so loud after being asked so many times not to. Immediately he breaks down in tears because he had no idea that he was getting louder. It’s only really weird because he’ll notice when everyone else gets louder and asks them to quiet down but can’t notice himself at all.

Keirnan has been violent a lot lately and has gotten in trouble quite a few times over the last few days because he deals with every single issue with his fist. Then, when he gets caught in the act or after the fact, doesn’t matter, he’ll try to fib his way out of it. I don’t know if I’d call it an out-and-out lie because he’s been pretty afraid of getting in trouble for that again, but it’s like he’s trying to manipulate the narrative to better the chances of someone else getting in trouble – usually Carter. I tell ya, boys are hard!

Kaeidyn’s been Kaeidyn. She’s been sleeping in a lot later and we’ve even had a couple mornings where the parents were out of bed before her. That hasn’t happened in ages. She goes for her babysitting course soon and she’s incredibly excited about that and she’s spent the last little while trying to talk me into letting her throw a baby shower for me, so it’s been a lot of, “When I get babysitting license I can start saving money” and “When I get money, I’m going to buy you the cutest thing for your party” and “We could play this game and this game and eat this food and invite these people” and just on and on. I love that she’s so excited for a baby though!

Well, I think I’ve talked about everything there is to talk about. Good talk 😉

The Rantings - For Everyone

The Last Week or So…

It’s been a very long and entirely unproductive week…

We had two Christmas dinners to go to this year, which were incredibly delicious. First night was a turkey night and the second night was a bacon-wrapped steak night. Both nights were amazing and hanging out with all the family was really great.

The big highlight of our week was The Boyfriend’s four days off. It went by way too fast and four days really felt like two, but I always love having him in bed with me. Although, for some reason, this whole week, every time I sleep I end up getting ridiculously hot and so our usual comfortable and cuddly sleep was more like tossing and turning and keeping each other awake.

Carter’s been so talkative since the older kids left. I’m finding the super constant talkativeness to be incredibly annoying this time around and have to keep reminding myself that he’s not trying to annoy me. He’s just sharing… Every single thing! I don’t think I’ve ever heard him talk as much as he has been lately and I probably wouldn’t find it so annoying if he talked about more than just two or three things. I can’t wait for the older kids to get back so that he has other ears to talk off.

I had all these big plans to get tons of cleaning done while the kids were gone and for the most part, I’ve failed miserably. We did have two solid days of really great cleaning and it was productive, but it wasn’t the degree of cleaning I was hoping to get done. We also got another new mop, this time with steam, to see if that will do our floors better or easier or something. We still have some time before the kids get back, so I imagine it’ll all get done, at some point.

I’ve been playing a lot of video games lately. The Boyfriend was all “try out Fallout 4” and I did and ended up falling in love with it. His second day off must’ve been especially boring, because I stole the game from him when he went to get coffees and didn’t let him back on all day! Then, I’ve been checking in on The Sims 4 stuff almost every other day, although I haven’t been playing The Rayne’s at all. Just random characters or attempting to build.

I’ve been having some knee pain lately, which hasn’t happened very often in the last few weeks. It’s been pretty insistent the last two weeks and I’ve spent a bunch of time complaining. Then, on and off (although more on over the last couple of days), I’ve been having a pain in my breast. I can’t really describe the pain in either of those places, except by saying that it sucks! Thank goodness I have the world’s greatest boyfriend, who will spend hours rubbing my knees and breasts, never once complaining about all my complaining 😉

Well, that’s basically all that’s happening around here. A whole lot of nothing. We’re planning on picking the kids up in about a week, which I’m excited about and then it’ll be back into the swing of school and all that other fun stuff.

The Rayne's

#TheSims4: Introducing The Rayne’s

The Rayne’s are teen roommates currently residing in Mid-Nowhere: The Rayne’s in Windenburg.

Valerie Rayne is a creative music lover whose greatest ambition is to become a Musical Genius. Boyfriend Rayne, who shares the same last name as Valerie but isn’t related to her, is a genius and a geek whose life dream is to be a Nerd Brain.

They’ve already spent some time getting to know one another and becoming best friends. They’ve also hosted the Welcome Wagon and gone to Island Bluffs and the Discotheque, where they did their first ever group dance. Valerie is wearing the red bathing suit and Boyfriend is right in the center.

After their rather eventful week, full of school, homework and entertaining, they decided they needed to wind down and Valerie went to her room and Boyfriend went to his room and they both enjoyed a meditation session that let them level up twice.

Next up for The Rayne’s: While they’re still in school, both Boyfriend and Valerie intend to get jobs as Retail Store Employees. After they’ve held a job for awhile and are doing well in school, the plan is to start exploring clubs. I think we’ll probably have one of them create a club that they both join and then have them each join separate already existing clubs (such as the Paragons or Renegades). The final goal, before they become adults anyways, is to have them begin dating!

Be sure to stay tuned to see what ends up happening to The Rayne’s and the world around them!

And if you’d like to try playing as them, you can find The Rayne’s on The Sims 4 Gallery by searching the Origin ID: ValerieRayne13. I’d love to see someone play them and share their experience with me in the comments below!

This post is from The List and is for everyone.

TO DO: Online

I’ve spent a lot of time over the last couple of days mindlessly clicking around on the computer, not really sure what to do or where to go. I’ve been writing a lot of posts that aren’t getting finished and I’ve just generally been feeling a huge lack of motivation and inspiration, even though it’s literally staring me in the face!

I think the biggest problem is that there are just so many things that I want to be doing, so many things that I should be doing and so many things that I could be doing, that it’s just a little bit overwhelming. I decided I needed to get the to-do list out of my head so that maybe I can make some progress, any progress…

Things I Want to Be Doing Online:

  • Listening to podcasts

I subscribe to a few different podcasts always with the thinking that I’m going to listen to, but I just never seem to find the moment or desire to listen to them, so they just sit there piling up on me…

In a perfect world: I’d love to listen to podcasts live. I’d even be happy with one night a week listening to podcasts. Ideally, I’d spend an hour every night listening to podcasts – since I follow enough to fill up that schedule quickly…

  • Reading articles

There are so many things to read on the internet. I’ve always wanted to read articles from my favorite blogs and relevant to my interests. And while I’ll occasionally click, the reality is that I’m missing huge amounts of content because I’m not regularly reading those articles.

In a perfect world: I’d save any articles that I was interested in reading (using something like Pocket) and spend a minimum of an hour every night going over the reading I had saved up for the day.

  • Instagram-ing

Currently, I post to Instagram and check in on it whenever I post a picture. As those who follow me may notice, I rarely ever post pictures. I’d like that whole entire thing to change!

In a perfect world: I’d like to take one selfie, one landscape photo and one picture of the kids every single day – that would be ideal for me.

  • Publishing a Book

This is so high up there on my list right now! I’ve been thinking about it constantly and debating the pros and cons of my options and I just feel like I’m not closer to anything. But, I really want to publish a book and make my first $0.99 sale and the ultimate goal is to one day hold my work in a print book in my hands!

In a perfect world: By the end of 2016, I’d really like to have a plan to accomplish this goal!

  • Releasing YouTube Videos

I used to release cover videos on a relatively regular basis, back when I had a guitar. Then, my guitar broke and I basically stopped putting out videos. I miss the good ole days and I’d like to go back to them.

In a perfect world: More than just covers, I’d like to release a few different kinds of videos. It’d be fun to release vlogs of life with the family, covers and original songs, as well as some things about my biggest interests – sexuality, erotica and The Sims 4. I’m thinking, release a video at least twice a week.

There are, of course, a number of other “goals” I have for online, such as a certain number of Tweets per week or certain types of content on Facebook, for example. However, those aren’t really things that I’d like to be doing so much as things that I’m currently attempting to do – maybe I’ll go into that in a different post. But these are just a few of things that I’d like to be doing online.

The Picture Place is a small photo studio. Surrounding one end of the building is an intricate fountain consisting of domes and streams. The other end of the studio is surrounded by a porch with lots of seating for customers.

Of course, it isn’t a photo studio with some equipment. Separated from the reception area by some awesome room dividers, your Sims can get their pictures taken (or take some of their own) in this area overlooking the fountains outside.

From the porch outside, Sims can access the two bathrooms downstairs. They come with a shower, seating, toilet and sink and a locker for changing outfits. Again, throughout the whole design of this space, you’ll see my obsession with symmetry shining through, so both bathrooms are designed the same.

#TheSims4: Excited for Clubs

It’s been a super long while since I’ve played The Sims 4, but this expansion has me itching for release and then playtime. Clubs is something that has me incredibly excited. I’ve wanted this experience for a long time in a game that I like and now it’s happening to the one I love the most!

I’m looking forward to see all of the Simmers club creations and I’m sure I’ll experiment with joining a handful of clubs, but mostly, I’m looking forward to creating a Club all my own! And boy, do I ever have ideas!! Especially after reading through TheSims.com’s post about 11 options available to me – including creating my club’s outfit – I almost jumped out of my seat!

So, who’s planning on creating a club of their own? What are your club plans? How are you preparing for this release? What’s your thoughts on clubs and this upcoming expansion for #TheSims4?

One thing you’ll notice about a great many of my builds on The Sims 4, and especially in Newcrest, is that I have a serious obsession with symmetry. The Sandy Run Spa is a perfect example of this symmetry. It’s something I keep trying to move away from and keep ending back up at.

You can find the Sandy Run Spa on The Sims 4 Gallery. I invite you to download it and place it in your own worlds.
