I Wanna Grow Old With You

Unbeknownst to The Boyfriend, I recorded this cover of Adam Sandler’s “Grow Old With You” from the 1998 movie, The Wedding Singer. Then, on our 9-year anniversary, uploaded it to Facebook (so that he would see it!). And the lyrics are so true for us!!!

I wanna make you smile whenever you’re sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you

I’ll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I’ll miss you
Kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

Need you
Feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed if you’ve had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

Bower Ponds in May

It was the first really beautiful day of the year and we couldn’t wait to get outside.

One of our favorite places to go is down to Bower Ponds. There’s tons of places to walk along the river, not to mention the actual ponds plus two playgrounds to take the kids to. It’s always one of the first places we hit when the weather gets nice and is one of our most frequented summer locations.

This year, Kaeidyn had control of the camera and took a ton of pictures. She got some great pictures of the family and of course, I’m obsessed with the pictures she took of The Boyfriend and I. But today, I wanted to share some of the landscape shots she got. What do you think?

We Are So Freaking Adorable…

Straight up, I have never enjoyed two pictures of The Boyfriend and I as much as I enjoy these ones that Kaeidyn took of us during our last trip to Bower Ponds (more pictures to come…).

Kaeidyn & I Do Karaoke

A few nights back, Kaeidyn decided she wanted to do karaoke.

We recently discovered Sing King Karaoke on YouTube and we’ve all been a little obsessed. After a couple songs, I started recording her. We’re nearing the end of the hour long session here, but she insisted, “Mom, you be the guy!” – and so…

I always love when she’s listening to music and singing. Even when she listens to her annoying music. I love that she’s musical. It’s the one area we can really connect. When she picks up the guitar, when she listens to music, when she sings karaoke, I love it so much!!!

Fin-spiration for The Mermaid

I’ve been working on an erotic story.

I was tasked by a follower on Google+ to write a mermaid story (shoutout to +Richard Bacula).

I have literally had it in the works for over a month now because I keep coming up against walls left and right. I have never read anything with mermaids in it and the only other mermaid I’ve ever known was Ariel from The Little Mermaid. That’s it! So, I’ve been seeking out lots of inspiration for this one.

First was the issue: how exactly do mermaids have sex?

I think I’ve figured this one out. I think I’ve decided how I want it to be done and what I’m hoping to accomplish with the mermaid sex scene(s).

Now, my issue is: how exactly to describe a mermaid tail/fins and the various anatomy of those parts. Plus, how exactly do you describe the color of mermaid scales?!?

So, I went on a Google hunt for some inspiration, which led me to Pinterest and I thought this could be pretty to share. Enjoy some fin-spiration!

If it was specked with more green, this is almost exactly the tail I have in mind:

However, this mermaid tail is pretty awesome too – maybe for a different mermaid character 😉

“A very useful chart for mer-doctors”:

Speaking of information that could be useful for a mer-doctor… The Wikipedia version of the course taught in Mer-Medical School reads something like this:

  • First stories of mermaids had the goddess Atargatis transform herself into a mermaid because she accidentally killed her human lover
  • Mermaids are sometimes associated with perilous events such as floods, storms, shipwrecks and drownings.
  • The word “mermaid” is a compound of the words mere (sea) and maid (girl or young woman)
  • Often equated with the Sirens from Greek mythology who, “would lure soon-to-be-shipwrecked sailors to nearby rocks, sandbars or shoals
  • Sirenomelia, also called “mermaid syndrome”, is a rare congenital disorder in which a child is born with his or her legs fused together and small genitalia.” Also, as of July 2003, there are only 4 known survivors.
  • Mermen are described as wilder and uglier than mermaids and have very little interest in humans
  • Disney’s The Little Mermaid (1989), is based on Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale, The Little Mermaid (1837)
  • Chinese literature, 15th century, tells of a mermaid who “wept tears which became pearls
  • Since 1947, Weeki Wachi Springs has professional female divers who perform as mermaids at “The Only City of Live Mermaids

The posts for true lovers of mermaids were very inspiring:

Some great vintage mermaid art. This one made me laugh:

Surprisingly, didn’t find more of mermaids with people on land. However, this one immediately touched me:

And finally, Father Tuck’s “Alphabet” Series, 1902:

Also, I discovered the word to describe the color of a mermaid’s tail:

Irridescent

showing luminous colors that seem to change when seen from different angles
Synonyms of Interest: Luminous, Lustrous, Opalescent, Prismatic

Tonight, I’m working on writing about the first appearance of the mermaid. Then, I’m going to finally tackle the first sex scene which I imagine will take me a bit to write as I attempt to navigate mer-natomy. After that, we’ll see what happens.

In the meantime, check out my Fin-spiration Pinterest Board – it’s pretty awesome, if I do say so myself 😉

Finally Uploaded a YouTube Video!!!

It’s been forever and a day (about 3 years) since I last uploaded a YouTube video.

After two days of playing, I decided to try to learn a couple Alanis Morissette songs. This was my first go at both of them (although I’m sure that I used to know these…) and there were a lot of mistakes, but I had fun doing them, so wanted to share!

I’m working on recording lots of different things right now and it is not being my friend, to be quite honest. I’m being too critical of myself to get anywhere with it. So I said, “Screw it” and stopped caring about the mistakes!

The next one I’m hoping to get done is Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts“, because I’ve had a friend requesting it for years!!

If you’d ever like to hear me do a cover of your favorite song, just let me know about it and I’ll see if it’s possible. You can leave your requests on my YouTube channel, as a comment on any of my posts or you can even connect with me on your favorite social network to let me know that you’ve got a suggestion!

Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy 😉

A Collection of #Footography

I don’t remember how we got into taking pictures of my feet.

I remember loving it the moment we were doing it. I’m often asked if I have a foot fetish and the honest answer is no, not even slightly. I do not enjoy any aspects of a foot fetish, except for taking pictures of my feet and having them (the pictures, not the actual feet) admired by other people.

Over the years, we’ve taken many foot photos. From dedicated footography sessions to random snaps on walks, from painted toe nails to bare nails, with and without shoes – most notably my flip flops, which I try to wear as much of the year as possible. The best place to view my footography is on my FetLife profile, but for those of you who aren’t there, enjoy this small selection of some of my favorite footography.

My Collection of #Footography

There’s photos on here from almost 6 years ago and some of them are as recent as a few weeks ago. If you’d like to see new footography as I take it, be sure to follow me on FetLife or check out my Google+ #Footography Collection.

The Day We Went to Crescent Falls – Beautiful Landscapes

For the entirety of our relationship, The Boyfriend has always desperately wanted to take us to Crescent Falls. He has fond memories of his youth at the falls and always delights in the chance to share any part of his youth with us. I wanted to go for the waterfall. Since moving to Alberta, I haven’t gotten to see nearly as many as I used to living in BC.

Finally, after years of talking about it, we took a wonderful day trip out to Crescent Falls and were sure to take our cameras along to get as many pictures as possible. The whole day was a whirlwind experience and one that will definitely go down in the history books.

This day will be broken down into a series of posts, because there are really just too many great photos to put in one post. Today, I want to share the beautiful landscapes as we drove out there and explored the falls. The next post, I’d like to do some of the fun videos we got from our time there. And finally, I’d like to end with all the amazing pictures of family that we got at Crescent Falls. Enjoy the view and be sure to check back for those next posts!

Crescent Falls – Landscapes 2015

It was honestly some of the most beautiful surroundings I’ve seen since I moved to Alberta almost 13 years ago. And although I discovered an extreme fear of the insane heights and especially the kids being free-to-roam around those heights, and although I definitely didn’t wear the right shoes for climbing and rocky path walking, it was definitely the perfect setting for an amazing summer adventure.

Again, be sure to check back for a collection of videos from the day, including an adorable moment between The Boyfriend and Carter (in which The Boyfriend dances) and our release of signed soccer balls over the falls. Then, a smattering of photos of all the kids enjoying the exploration, like the boys learning bear safety or their amazing climbing adventures and a few really awesome selfies! You should see them all up here within the next week or two, so stay tuned!

Late Afternoon at Gull Lake

Last night, The Boyfriend’s sister called and asked if we’d like to go to Gull Lake. It’s probably our favorite beach around here because the water is incredibly shallow, so the kids get to feel like they’re going deep because they’re so far away from the shoreline, when really, the water never goes above anyone’s chest.

The sun was shining bright, the water was nice and warm and we had a good two hours of beachtime. It was a wonderful late afternoon at Gull Lake.

I keep forgetting that I have a camera when I remember to bring my phone along, so I didn’t get nearly as many photos as I could (or should) have. However, I did manage to snap a few after the kids reminded me 😉

The ride home was loud since we brought our nephew home with us and everyone was beyond excited, but it was super relaxing. We realized today though that every plan we keep on making for the summer seems to not work out, but when we don’t plan anything, we manage to have really amazing days. YAY for spontaneity 😉
